Bamboo Airways vs VietJet Air carry-on
Bamboo Airways sits a tier above VietJet on service but lands in the same 56x36x23 cm, 7 kg cabin allowance range. Unlike VietJet, Bamboo includes 20 kg checked on its Smart and Flex fares, while VietJet Eco sells checked bags as add-ons. Bamboo offers a true lie-flat Business product on 787 aircraft, which VietJet does not. Bamboo has pulled back aggressively on international flying since 2023, so on many routes VietJet is simply the only option. For a domestic HAN-SGN run with a checked bag, Bamboo Smart often undercuts VietJet Eco plus paid bag.

On international routes from Vietnam to Thailand, Economy Saver, Smart and Flex include 20 kg and Economy Saver Max includes none. Extra domestic baggage starts at VND 300,000 for 20 kg bought online 24 hours or more before departure; at the airport a 15 kg package costs VND 450,000.
