Wizz Air cabin bag dimensions and bag size

The maximum Wizz Air carry-on size is 55 x 40 x 23 cm, which works out to 21.7 x 15.7 x 9.1 inches. These measurements include wheels, handles, and any external pockets, so a bag marketed as "22 inch" can go over if its wheels push the total past 55 cm. Always measure your bag packed, not empty.

Wizz Air carry-on weight limit

Wizz Air limits carry-on bags to 10 kg (22 lb).

Does Wizz Air charge for carry-on bags?

Yes. Wizz Air charges for carry-on bags on most fares, with a price that varies by flight and is lowest when added at booking. Fees climb at every stage: online, airport kiosk, ticket counter, gate. The personal item stays free on every fare. A carry-on is not included on the Wizz Air Basic fare.

Wizz Air overhead bin size by aircraft

Wizz Air operates an A320/A321neo fleet; the A321neo configurations are dense (up to 239 seats), so overhead bin space is tight and Priority trolleys really do fill up on full flights.

Avoiding gate-check on Wizz Air

Without WIZZ Priority you can only bring a 40x30x20 cm bag. Buy Priority online (from €13) because the airport price (€65-€75) is far higher, and Priority is the only realistic way to guarantee overhead space.

Common Wizz Air carry-on mistakes

  • Assuming the free bag can be 55x40x20 cm like most airlines; Wizz's free limit is only 40x30x20 cm and it is sizer-enforced.
  • Packing a 10 kg personal item that is physically too big. Weight alone is not enough, it must also pass the 40x30x20 cm sizer.
  • Buying Priority at the airport instead of online, where it costs a fraction.

Wizz Air vs Ryanair carry-on

Wizz Air and Ryanair both force you to choose between a free under-seat bag and a paid priority upgrade. Their free bags are now the same footprint: 40x30x20 cm. Wizz states a 10 kg allowance on its free bag, while Ryanair publishes no weight limit. The paid overhead bag is 55x40x23 cm on Wizz versus 55x40x20 cm on Ryanair, both 10 kg, so Wizz's is marginally deeper. WIZZ Priority is priced from €13 online. The two are closely matched on cabin baggage; pick on route and total fare rather than bag size.
