Aeromexico cabin bag dimensions and bag size

The maximum Aeromexico carry-on size is 55 x 40 x 25 cm, which works out to 21.7 x 15.7 x 9.8 inches. These measurements include wheels, handles, and any external pockets, so a bag marketed as "22 inch" can go over if its wheels push the total past 55 cm. Always measure your bag packed, not empty.

Aeromexico carry-on weight limit

Aeromexico limits carry-on bags to 10 kg (22 lb).

Does Aeromexico charge for carry-on bags?

No. Aeromexico includes a free carry-on bag plus a free personal item on every fare except the Light fare, which includes a personal item only. Check your specific fare rules before you book.

Avoiding gate-check on Aeromexico

Aeromexico gate agents frequently weigh cabin bags on full flights, so if your carry-on plus personal item is near your fare's combined limit (10 kg on Basic, 15 kg on Classic and Flex), consolidate and put the heaviest items in the personal item.

Common Aeromexico carry-on mistakes

  • Assuming the cabin allowance is per bag. It is a combined total for carry-on plus personal item: 10 kg on Basic, 15 kg on Classic and Flex.
  • Booking Light on a domestic Mexico route and expecting a carry-on. Light does not include one; Basic and up do.
  • Ignoring kg limits because you are used to US carriers that only size-check.

Aeromexico vs Volaris carry-on

Aeromexico is the friendlier Mexican option for carry-on. Every Aeromexico fare from Basic up includes a 55 by 40 by 25 cm carry-on plus personal item at a combined 10 kg (15 kg on Classic and Flex); only the domestic Light fare leaves it out. Volaris restricts its cheapest Zero and Basic fares to a personal item only, forcing you up to Plus or to pay a la carte for the overhead bag. Volaris allows a heavier combined cabin load of up to 20 kg, but you pay for the privilege, and adding a carry-on at the boarding gate costs more than adding it at booking.

Included bags depend on fare and region. On domestic Mexico routes, Light, Basic, Classic, Flex and AM Plus Basic include no checked bag (a 25 kg bag can be bought); AM Plus Classic and AM Plus Flex include 1 bag up to 25 kg. On US routes no Main Cabin or AM Plus fare includes a checked bag. On Canada and Central America/Caribbean routes AM Plus Classic and Flex include 1 bag; on Europe and long-haul South America routes Classic, Flex, AM Plus Classic and AM Plus Flex include 1 bag; on Asia routes Basic includes 1 bag and Classic/Flex include 2. Every included bag is up to 25 kg / 55 lb. Clase Premier (Mexico routes): Premier Basic 1 bag of 32 kg, Premier Classic and Flex 2 bags of 32 kg. Max size per bag 158 cm / 62 in. Aeromexico's Basic fare page lists a first bag for USD 30 on U.S. and Canada routes, but the cheaper Light fare's bag price is not published, so no international fee is listed.
