About Viking Vesta

Viking Vesta is one of Viking's near-identical all-veranda ocean ships, carrying 998 guests on a 784-foot hull built for calm, destination-focused sailing. Launched in 2025, she is a sister to the rest of the Viking Ocean fleet: every stateroom has a private veranda, there is no casino and no guest under 18 aboard, and the fare is inclusive, covering Wi-Fi, beer and wine at lunch and dinner, and a shore excursion in every port. The small scale lets her dock directly in ports that larger ships cannot reach.

Best for: Curious, independent-minded adult travelers who care more about the destination than onboard spectacle and want an all-inclusive fare with no nickel-and-diming. Best for couples and solo travelers who want enrichment, long port-heavy itineraries, and a calm, elegant ship with no children, no casino, and no formal nights.

Key features and highlights

  • ▸All-veranda: every stateroom has a private veranda, and the entry-level Veranda Stateroom is 288 sq ft.

  • ▸Inclusive fare: Wi-Fi, beer and wine with lunch and dinner, and one shore excursion in every port come with the fare.
  • ▸Scandinavian design throughout, with The Nordic Spa and its snow grotto, a main pool, and an aft infinity pool.
  • ▸Small scale: at 784 ft and 998 guests, she docks directly in ports that larger ships cannot reach.

What to know before you book

Cabin tips

Because every cabin is a veranda cabin, the entry-level Veranda Stateroom (288 sq ft) is already a balcony room and the best value on the ship. Step up to a Penthouse Veranda (360 sq ft) for more space, or an Explorer Suite for a separate living area. The single Owner's Suite (1448 sq ft) is the top cabin. There are no interior or ocean-view-only cabins to screen out.

Dining

Dining is included with no surcharges. The Restaurant is the main venue, World Cafe is the buffet, Manfredi's serves Italian, and The Chef's Table runs a rotating multi-course tasting menu with wine pairings. Mamsen's, in the Explorers' Lounge, serves Norwegian specialties, and room service is included.

Entertainment

Evenings are calm by design. The Star Theater hosts talks, music, and classical performance rather than large production shows, and a resident historian and guest lecturers anchor an enrichment program built around the destination. There is no casino on any Viking ocean ship.

Travel data researcher and publisher

Caden Sorenson runs Travel Vient, an independent travel research site built on a verified database of airline baggage rules, airport connection times, cruise line policies, and eSIM plans. He built the verification pipeline behind it: each record is read from the company or government page that publishes it (connection times: OAG data via ExpertFlyer), stored with that source link and the sentence it came from, and re-checked on a schedule. He is a senior staff engineer with 15+ years building software, a Computer Science graduate of Utah State University, and based in Logan, Utah.

Figures link to the source they were read from and show the date last checked; some cite a travel publication or aggregator rather than the company.
