Viking dress code

Daytime dress is casual, including shorts, slacks or jeans and comfortable walking shoes. In the evening, 'elegant casual' applies: for women a dress, skirt or slacks with a sweater or blouse; for men trousers and a collared shirt, with a jacket and tie optional. Jeans are not permitted at dinner, though the World Cafe buffet stays casual after 6:00 PM.

Guests may bring their own alcohol and beverages aboard, buy alcohol ashore, or purchase it from the onboard shop, and may drink it in their stateroom or in public spaces including the restaurants. Viking charges no corkage fee.

Viking gratuities

Viking's recommended gratuity is $20 per guest per night. Guests can pre-purchase gratuities at that rate in their My Viking Journey account, or Viking automatically adds them at the same $20 per guest per night to the shipboard account, charged to the guest's credit card. The flat rate applies to all guests, with no separate suite rate.

Viking smoking policy

Viking ships are generally nonsmoking, with one designated outdoor smoking area on the starboard side of Deck 8. All other areas, including staterooms and verandas, are nonsmoking. The same restrictions apply to e-cigarettes.

Viking baggage allowance

Viking sets no ship-imposed limit on the number or weight of checked bags; onboard, all luggage must be stored in the guest's stateroom. The only baggage limits that apply are the airline's for guests who book Viking Air flights, so confirm fees and restrictions directly with the airline. Viking advises carrying on valuables, medications in original labeled containers, glasses, important papers, and cameras.
