Royal Caribbean International dress code

Onboard attire varies by venue. Casual means jeans, polos, sundresses and blouses, with swimwear kept to the Pool Deck and shorts welcome at breakfast and lunch. Smart Casual is a step up with collared shirts, dresses, skirts, blouses or pantsuits. Formal nights call for suits and ties, tuxedos, cocktail dresses or evening gowns. Bare feet are not allowed in any venue, and tank tops are not permitted in the Main Dining Room or specialty restaurants at dinner.

Formal night frequency

Royal Caribbean's formal nights are called Dress Your Best. Five-night cruises include one, 6 to 10-night cruises include two, 11 to 14-night cruises include three, and cruises of 15 nights or more include three to four. The number is at the ship's discretion and can vary by itinerary.

Royal Caribbean International alcohol policy

On embarkation day each guest of drinking age may bring one sealed 750 ml bottle of wine or champagne. Beer, hard liquor, and boxed wine are not permitted. On back-to-back sailings, one bottle is allowed per individual sailing, with extras stored and returned one at a time.

Royal Caribbean International gratuities

Royal Caribbean adds an automatic daily gratuity to each guest's SeaPass account: $18.50 per guest per day for standard staterooms (interior, oceanview, and balcony) and $21.00 per guest per day for suites. The pooled amount covers dining, bar, culinary, stateroom, and hotel crew. Beverage, specialty dining, room service, and mini-bar purchases carry a separate 18% gratuity, and spa and salon purchases carry 20%.

Royal Caribbean International smoking policy

Smoking is only allowed in designated outdoor areas marked with signage and ashtrays, and indoors in Casino Royale. Cigars and pipes are limited to designated outdoor areas and the ship's Cigar Bar. On Oasis-class ships smoking is banned in the Central Park and Boardwalk neighborhoods. All dining venues, theaters, bars, hallways, and pool areas are smoke-free.

Royal Caribbean International baggage allowance

Royal Caribbean does not state a piece count or a weight limit. Its luggage FAQ says each guest may carry "a reasonable amount of personal property (including luggage)" and recommends guests "limit the number of pieces you take." Guests can carry luggage on board or check it before boarding. Carry-on luggage must fit through the x-ray screening machines, which vary in size from port to port, and luggage may be locked only with a TSA approved lock. A stateroom may not be ready right away, so pack a small carry-on with a change of clothes and a bathing suit.
