Virgin Voyages dress code
Virgin Voyages asks only that guests keep fellow Sailors' comfort in mind. Sailors are encouraged to wear more than a bathing suit when dining in restaurants and to wear footwear in indoor spaces. Private groups or themed events in designated venues may have bolder attire that the line asks to stay within those spaces. Scarlet Night is the signature celebration where the ship turns red, and the only suggestion is to wear something red.

Virgin Voyages baggage allowance
Virgin Voyages sets no luggage allowance of its own, but cabin storage is limited and the crew cannot store extra bags, so anything that will not fit in the cabin is best left at home. As a guide, Virgin suggests the standard airline allowance: one or two large suitcases, one carry-on, and a personal item per Sailor. Luggage tags arrive by email as a PDF seven days before the voyage, and Terminal V accepts luggage from 9 AM.

Who Virgin Voyages is best for
Adults (18+) who want a modern, design-forward cruise without kids, buffets, or formal nights. Virgin Voyages appeals to younger first-time cruisers and experienced travelers who have rejected the traditional cruise model. The vibe is closer to a boutique hotel or music festival than a conventional ship, with tattoo parlors, vinyl record shops, DJ sets, and group fitness classes replacing bingo and ice carving demonstrations.
Standout features
- Adults-only (18+) across all four ships with no exceptions
- All dining is included in the fare across 20+ restaurants with no main dining room or buffet
- Scarlet Night is a signature themed evening on each voyage featuring deck parties, performances, and fire-breathers
- Brilliant Lady (2025) is the newest ship and the only one capable of transiting the Panama Canal for Alaska itineraries
