Yes

For itineraries that include a land-based component, Holland America states each guest may bring two pieces of checked luggage and one overnight or light flight bag, which should stay in the guest's possession at all times. The line does not publish a per-bag weight limit of its own; its baggage page raises 50 lb only as an airline caveat ("Airlines may charge excess baggage fees or fees for bags over 50 pounds"). Luggage should carry a durable personal ID tag, and printable Holland America luggage tags are offered during Online Check-In. If luggage is lost, delayed, or damaged in the line's care, liability is limited to US$250 per bag, per guest.

Carry-on essentials

Holland America collects your checked bags at the pier and delivers them to your stateroom over the first several hours aboard, sometimes not until dinnertime. Carry anything you need before then in the bag you keep with you.

Frequently asked questions

How many bags can I bring on a Holland America cruise?
Holland America does not publish a limit on how many checked bags each guest can bring.
Is there a weight limit for Holland America luggage?
Holland America does not publish a per-bag weight limit. Bags still need to be light enough for you and the pier porters to handle, and to fit in your stateroom.
Can I bring a carry-on bag on Holland America?
Yes. Holland America permits a carry-on. Keep medications, travel documents, valuables, and swimwear in it, because checked bags are delivered to your stateroom several hours after you board.
When is checked baggage delivered to my Holland America stateroom?
Checked bags are collected at the pier on embarkation day and delivered to your stateroom door over the following few hours, often not until late afternoon or evening. Pack anything you need for the first few hours, including medication and a swimsuit, in the bag you carry on.
What should I pack for a Holland America cruise?
Attach the Holland America Line luggage tags to every checked bag before you arrive at the terminal so they route to the right stateroom. Our cruise packing list has a full pre-cruise checklist.
